How do you read a second marriage in vedic astrology?

In Vedic astrology, second marriages (or subsequent marriages) can be inferred by analyzing specific factors in the birth chart. Here’s a breakdown of how you can look for second marriages:

1. 7th House (House of Marriage) and its Lord

  • The 7th house is primarily associated with marriage and partnerships. If this house or its lord is severely afflicted (by malefic planets like Saturn, Rahu, Mars, or Ketu), or if there are combinations showing separation (such as 7th house lord in the 8th house or 12th house), it could indicate a second marriage after the dissolution of the first.

2. 8th House (House of Longevity of Marriage)

  • The 8th house represents longevity, including the longevity of marriage. An afflicted 8th house can point to instability or disruptions in married life, which might lead to a second marriage.

3. 9th House (Second Marriage)

  • The 9th house can also be examined for second marriages, as it is the third from the 7th house (3rd representing change or new ventures) and signifies the second significant partnership.

4. Dual Signs in the 7th House

  • If the 7th house is occupied by dual signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces), this could indicate the possibility of more than one marriage. Dual signs are mutable and suggest change, which could represent more than one marriage.

5. Venus and Jupiter's Condition

  • Venus is the karaka (significator) for love and marriage, particularly for men. If Venus is afflicted, it could indicate dissatisfaction or separation leading to remarriage.

  • Jupiter, particularly in a woman’s chart, represents the husband. If Jupiter is afflicted or weak, it may indicate challenges in the first marriage, potentially leading to a second one.

6. D-9 Navamsa Chart

  • The Navamsa chart (D-9) is a divisional chart used for deeper analysis of marriage. If the D-9 chart shows afflictions, especially in the 7th house or with its lord, this could suggest multiple marriages.

  • Multiple marriages can also be seen if there is Venus-Rahu or Moon-Rahu conjunction in the Navamsa chart, as Rahu tends to bring unconventional or sudden changes in relationships.

7. 12th House (Loss and Separation)

  • The 12th house deals with losses and separations, and an afflicted 12th house or its lord can point to the end of one marriage, possibly followed by another.

8. Dasha (Planetary Periods)

  • The timing of remarriage can often be predicted by examining the planetary dashas (Vimshottari Dasha system). If the dasha of the 7th house lord, 9th house lord, or planets aspecting these houses are active, it could indicate a second marriage.

9. Rahu's Influence

  • Rahu can play a major role in unconventional or multiple marriages. If Rahu is connected to the 7th house or 7th house lord, or placed in the 7th house, it may indicate separation and remarriage, especially if Rahu's dasha or transit is active during the time of remarriage.

Important Yogas for Second Marriage:

  1. Darakaraka and Upapada Lagna: Darakaraka (the planet with the lowest degree in the birth chart) and Upapada Lagna (an indicator of the spouse and marriage) should be analyzed for remarriage tendencies.

  2. Multiple Planets in the 7th House: If there are more than one planet in the 7th house, especially if they’re malefic (Rahu, Ketu, Saturn, Mars), it can indicate more than one marriage.

These factors, when analyzed together with transits and dashas, provide a comprehensive understanding of the possibility and timing of a second marriage.
